Richard Schmitz has been a public defender since 1996. His experience includes representing criminal defendants in jury trials, offenders in prison disciplinary hearing, and releasees at supervised release hearings. He has also represented individuals at the Court of Appeals and has argued at the Minnesota Supreme Court. He has been co-teaching the State Public Defender clinic since 2007.
