Hamline University President Linda Hanson has approved the recommendation of the law faculty and dean for Hamline Law Professor Mary Jane Morrison, who retired from teaching December 31, 2013, to be named emeritus professor of law.

Since December, Morrison has visited with alums and students. Otherwise, most days she can be found on the third floor of the law library reviewing 50 state constitutions in connection with a forthcoming article and with the revision of her book on the Minnesota Constitution. She reports learning a little more Korean and Mandarin each week and continues her service as chair of a human rights and research committee for several group homes for disabled adults and as a volunteer mediator with an agency of the Department of Defense.

Morrison joined colleagues Joe Daly, Cathy Deal, Bill Martin, Douglas McFarland, and Jim Pielemeier in retiring from Hamline Law during the 2012-13 academic year. These professors have a combined 217 years of service to Hamline Law. Morrison, Daly, McFarland, and Pielemeier have been honored with the rank of emeritus professor following their retirement announcements. The Hamline community thanks them for their continued dedication to the School of Law.
